Alfa Yayınları On Architecture (Hardcover) + Colored Highlighter

Product description

Vitruvius's de architectura (on architecture) is essentially a compendium of ten books that provides extensive and systematic knowledge about the theory and practice of architecture in the roman period. Due to its universal approach to the principles and education of architecture, it is the only book from the ancient era to the present day in the history of classical western architecture. At that time, since it also included architectural engineering, it could be considered the only work in the history of engineering.

Considering that the subjects within the work consist of greek and roman temples, public buildings, bathhouses, houses, even the exterior and interior designs of these buildings, the plastering of their walls, reliefs, colorful paints, and floors with different patterns, this work is the only temple where both classical western archaeology and art history can obtain information about this period. In fact, classical archaeology, in particular, owes its origin to this work in terms of the scientific language, style and terminology it uses today. That's why, throughout history, from the middle ages and the renaissance to the present day, architects and those engaged in related fields have turned to "on architecture" as the go-to reference when seeking historical context for their work.
