Alfa Yayınları New Atlantis + Color Highlighter Pen

Product description

Bacon wants to design an ideal state that will function as a scientific discovery center on the planet from 1608 onward. In his utopian work, which he crafted under the new name of atlantis, he openly displays this desire. The works that inspired the new atlantis are plato's state, timaeus, and critias, as well as thomas more's utopia. Bacon first translated the work into english, then translated it into latin, believing it would achieve immortality, and made many additions that were not in the english text.

The first pages of the new atlantis, which describe the events beginning with the discovery of the lost island of bensalem in the vast seas of the world, are devoted to the struggle of european sailors against nature in the open seas, who, after a year spent in peru, set off for china and japan. They begin to live among people who brought a utopia to life after great disasters.

new atlantis is a mirror of bacon's belief that communities will flourish with science. In his own utopia, he has added the power of science to the social legislation, religious reforms, and dissemination of knowledge contained in the old utopias. Bacon sought to concretely demonstrate how the ideal state could harness nature for the benefit of humanity.
