Alfa Yayınları Mothers: an Essay on Love and Cruelty + Color Highlighter

Product description

An essay on love and violencein this work of introduction, jacqueline rose deploys motherhood in the western culture. The author, who says, "i assumed that everything i inherited came from my mother, including all kinds of physical or mental problems," draws attention to the fact that mothers are held responsible for all personal and political failures. Drawing inspiration from literature, current events, and life stories spanning from the past to the present, she returns to ancient greece, then pays homage to the femininity of the 1950s, ultimately standing with elena ferrante's "mothers" in our time.

It examines the dimensions of the heavy burden of the impossible, which is inflicted on mothers: refugee mothers are declared guilty, poor mothers are selfish

The symbol of the war is the mourning mother, but the voices of the mothers protesting the war are muffled

Mothers should dedicate all of themselves to their children, but they should not indulge excessively in this, either physically or emotionally, nor should they display excessive affection in public.

It shows how we make mothers scapegoats to escape from the systematic injustice that surrounds our rose, we put all our hopes and desires on them, and at the same time we hold them responsible for all our disappointments and failures, and again we expect them to correct them.
