Alfa Yayınları Identity of France + Colored Highlighter

Product description

"i will not say it again: i love france with the same rigor and complex passion that jules michelet had. Blindly separating the virtues from the flaws, without making any distinction between those i cherish and those i'm forced to accept. But this passion will hardly bleed through the pages of this book.

i'll keep it away carefully.

it can trap and surprise me, so i will keep it in close confinement.

and i will also point out possible pitfalls as i go along.

because i am determined to speak from france as if it were another country, another homeland, another nation. The historian, who should be an impartial "observer" as much as possible, is forced to condemn himself to a kind of personal silence.

such an effort would be easier for me because of previous work. In my books about the mediterranean or capitalism, i filtered france from a distance, sometimes very far, but among others, as a reality similar to others.

So, i moved to this neighborhood, which is very close to me, but i arrived with obvious pleasure: historian is actually in comfortable relations only with the history of his own country, almost instinctively grasping the turning points, changes, originality, weaknesses of this history. When he sets up camp elsewhere, no matter how knowledgeable he is, he never has such conveniences. -fernand braudel show more all the products you will choose from our store are shipped to you exactly as stated in the visual and product details, completely intact.
