Product description

According to huizinga, play is a central activity which allows societies to develop. The game has five characteristics: the game is free

the game is not "ordinary" or "everyday" life

it is separated from "ordinary" life both in terms of its location and duration

the game creates a layout

it has nothing to do with material gain and no profit can be obtained from the game. Huizinga, who starts with plato, traces the contributions of the "man who plays" to civilization during the medieval, renaissance and early modern world period. A fascinating study on the "gaming human" and the contribution of gaming to civilization. Harper's sharp, brilliant intellect and rare eloquence allow him to comprehensively examine and interpret huizinga's concept of play instinct, one of the fundamental elements of human culture. The reader of this book will easily realize how deeply rooted the role of game theory has been in developments in law, science, poverty, war, philosophy, and art. - roger caillois show more all products you choose from our store are shipped to you complete and exactly as described in the images and product details.
