Product description

The british scholar, educator, and shakespearean scholar edwin a. abbott's flatland has been a science and mathematics fiction that has managed to impress readers for over 100 years, a fun satire.

we learn what it is like to live in two dimensions first through the daily life of a square living in the two-dimensional flatland.

it's a world of women, men, classes and rulers. Then, together with him, we explore the line country, the space country, and the point country.

we learn that the human mind cannot imagine a reality larger than the general while learning the differences between a two-dimensional world and a three-dimensional world.

the plain leads us to the problem of limitations, not only mathematical and physical limitations, but limitations we put on our universe in general, including social limitations. The secret of being a book published in 1884 but read as if written yesterday is perhaps to highlight the difficulty of overcoming ingrained perceptions in one's thinking habits. "the plain is not only a fun and clever geometry exercise, but also a statement that can lead us to deep reflections about our universe and ourselves." - isaac asimov
