Alfa Yayınları Elleri Tılsımlı: Modern Türkiye’de Ebelik + Color Highlighter Pen

Product description

The book you hold in your hands reveals how childbirth was medicalized during turkey's modernization process, thereby stripping women of their fundamental role as mothers.

This path we've embarked on, where science (especially medicine) – the most crucial tool of modern power – defines pregnancy as a kind of "illness," and the pregnant woman as "sick," indicates a period where women's bodies are being devalued.

at the same time, she goes beyond describing women as victims of power and seeks to understand what kind of resistance and negotiation tools they have developed in the process of medicalization of childbirth. While doing this, he listens to the 'elderly acuzeler', conveys their voices and stories to us.

elleri tılsımlı reminds us that there is a wide field that the turkish feminist movement has rarely touched. It tells the long story of women reclaiming their bodies and lives in the face of the history of the system. Feminist thought is the possibility of establishing such a "we".
