Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları Woyzeck - Leonce ve Lena - Hasan Ali Yücel Klasikleri

Product description

Georg büchner (1813-1837): he is considered one of the founders of modern german theater.

studied medicine at the universities of strasbourg and giessen. Inspired by the parisian uprising of 1830, büchner, having founded a secret group and published a pamphlet calling for revolution, was denounced by peasants and forced to flee to switzerland. he died in exile in 1837, leaving behind five works. While influenced by shakespeare and the german romantic sturm und drang movement, danton's death and the unfinished woyzeck are plays that transcend their time. Even though they are unfinished texts that progress in trailers, both woyzeck and leonce and lena are striking plays written by büchner with a sharp sense of humor. Büchner, while subtly addressing the absurd aspects of modern relationships, the frivolities of the bourgeoisie, the critique of aristocracy, and the stark contrasts of poverty and class, will always keep a paramount desire on the agenda: human freedom.
