Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları El Cid - Hasan Ali Yücel Klasikleri

Product description

Pierre corneille (1606-1684): considered the founder of classical french tragedy.

he is a child of a middle class family and has received cizvit education. The first play he wrote before he turned twenty was successfully staged in paris and became the first step in a brilliant career. The poet has been entitled to enter the académie française in 1647.

el cid was published in 1637, first as a tragicomedy and later as a tragedy, and was put on stage the same year.

Despite the fact that the play about the national hero of spain does not fully comply with the three rules of classical drama and creates controversy in its time by treating the subject as a tragedy of two lovers rather than a hero's story, it is considered the masterpiece of french theater writing. It tells the touching story of jimena, who was forced to kill her beloved jimena's father for the sake of family honor, and don rodrigo, who was forced to make a choice between his lover's life and avenging his father by fate.
