Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları Doktor Ox’un Deneyi

Product description

Our story takes place in flandre, in the imaginary city of quiquendone. The calm, measured, temperate and dignified people of the city have been leading an extremely stationary life in harmony for centuries without going to extremes in anything or showing any signs of emotion. Even their rulers without initiative, without any significant decisions, emigrate from this world throughout their lives. However, doctor ox's supposed city lighting project will change something in quiquendone. The doctor has a secret agenda, and he won't hesitate to use the city's people as guinea pigs for it. Because science can be dangerous in the hands of reckless people. In this entertaining novella, where every line is filled with jules verne's subtle irony, the life forms of a small town's flemish residents who have lived disconnected from the world and have not yet broken their ties with the middle ages have long expired. The story was also the subject of the opera doctor ox by the french composer of german origin jacques offenbach, and verne himself contributed to the writing of the libretto.
