summary: "the work you have in your hands, a section of the ihya'u ulûmi'd-dîn, one of the crown jewels of the islamic moral library, talks about satisfying the stomach, which is defined by imam ghazali as ""the biggest headache of man"", and calming and controlling sexual desire." The appetites for food and lust not only keep one occupied in their blind cycles, but also trap them in harmful states such as lethargy, illness, and shallowness, when they should be very busy with worship, good deeds, and introspection. therefore, one should know the ways to avoid falling into the hands of these two appetites. however, while directing oneself, it will be necessary to cut off the pursuit of food and lust. with a density that teaches the reader how to fill this void, gazali strengthens the instructive message of his work with abundant examples from the lives of the great names of the past of the ummah. “whoever desires something, then turns away from it and prefers for his soul another, allah will forgive him.” (ahadith al-sherif)
