Ötüken Neşriyat Sardanapalus - Dünya Klasikleri (Hardcover) Ötüken Neşriyat (with Protective Bag)

Product description

Sardanapalus (1821) is the historical tragedy written by lord byron in free verse during his residence in ravenna, italy. The plot of the game is the story of the destruction of the assyrian empire, along with its last king, sardanapalus. Written faithful to the traditional three unity doctrine, the game also takes place in ninova, the capital of the empire

Historical background information mainly comes from two sources: the first is the work of diodorus siculus called historical library, and the second is the book of william mitford called history of greece

This play by byron, dedicated to goethe, has had a profound impact on european culture and has served as an inspiration for painters such as delacroix, and great composers including berlioz, liszt, and ravel. In turkish literature, the legend of sardanapalus has only been adapted in the play sardanapal by abdülhak hamid tarhan, published in 1919. Although tarhan's game is based on the same legend, both its approach and its characters are quite different from byron's. Product name: sardanapalus
