It was prepared as a result of a long and meticulous study by salim çonoğlu. The edition you have is based on the latest print of safahat, which was published during mehmet akif’s lifetime. The period during which each text was published and the date of its publication are indicated in the footnotes before it is included in the book. Words and phrases that may be unfamiliar to today’s readers are explained in footnotes, which number in the thousands. The most important aspect of professor dr. salim çonoğlu’s work, and what distinguishes it from previous safahat editions, is the “glossary of terms and names” added to the end of the book.

The “dictionary of concepts and names,” a product of considerable effort, provides extensive explanations of the concepts and historical figures and places mentioned in the poems, thereby facilitating a better understanding of akif’s emotional and intellectual world, revealing the connections between the era, the individual, and the work, and making it easier to grasp the messages conveyed.
