Printing printing year january 2018 number of pages 264 binding condition paperback “literature, of course, comes out as a result of observing people,” says platonov. “could there be a better place to observe them than their letter? This compilation, consisting of letters written by platonov between 1920-1950, allows us to observe the life of one of the most original writers of russian literature, as if looking through a keyhole, and witness his feelings and thoughts. What is not in these letters: passionate love for his wife and jealousy that gnaws at him when he has to go to other cities to work. As a result of some of his works being perceived as anti-communist, he was excluded from the literary world

therefore, he constantly struggled with financial difficulties throughout his life. The deep wound in the heart caused by being slandered as his enemy, even though he considered the working class his “homeland”. In his struggle to escape being an “inconvenient” writer and gain respect, he constantly throws himself against the wall. The deep grief he felt when his beloved son was arrested and imprisoned when he was only fifteen years old, and when he died of tuberculosis a few years after his release from prison. Despite all this, to continue to live, strive, love, hope. Each of the letters forms a piece of the puzzle: as a wife, a father, a writer, a friend, a comrade, a fellow citizen, in short, as a person, we know andrei platonov better thanks to them.
