Product description

“death is to exist and no longer to be,” said josé saramago.

He died, no more, but the window on the roof in portugal and brazil, as soon as it was printed in the homeland of its mother tongue, people passed the new book from hand to hand and expressed their surprise that they read it with brand new excitement.

Saramago had published another book, a fresh and luminous book that penetrates our sensibilities and makes us remain astonished and admiring

And we understood, finally understood that this is a gift that was left behind by the author, who no longer definitely exists, but wants to continue to share.

This sentence has been repeated until i got tired of it: this book is a jewel, how could saramago have this wisdom at that age, how could he describe people so delicately, flawlessly, and without prolonging the narrative? How could he be capable of addressing commonplace and trivial, yet universal situations, of countering with such serene violence the judgmental values of the self-righteous? Pilar del rio the window on the roof is a novel written by josé saramago in his early years as a writer, but published after his death.

as his wife pilar del rio said, the window on the roof is the gateway to saramago and will be a discovery for every reader.

it's like a perfect ring is being completed.

it's like there's no death.
