Plants provide oxygen, help prevent algae growth, remove pollutants, provide hiding places and reduce pathogens. The JBL Proflora CO2 system supplies plants with CO2 dissolved into the aquarium water to support photosynthesis. The ready-to-connect system includes a pressure reducer, bubble counter with backflow protection, diffuser and a CO2/pH permanent test to monitor dissolved CO2 and allow readjustment. A solenoid valve for night shut-off is optional. A check valve prevents water entering the cylinder. A 500 g refillable cylinder typically lasts about four months if not switched off at night. Reusable cylinders can be refilled in specialist shops; M and U systems are compatible via the pressure reducer union nut.
