summary: there are so many stereotypes, judgments and speculations used instead of information about the papacy that they often contradict each other.

On the one hand, it is mentioned that the world is secularizing, that religion does not have an important role in social life anymore

But on the other hand, a vatican portrayal is presented at the centre of conspiracy theories that guide european politics and have a finger in every important event in the world. However, this institution, which emerged in a certain period, has taken shape during various historical processes.

the church is not an organization composed only of the pope and a certain number of cardinals

it has been, is and is the object of the love and devotion of a significant part of the world's population. Of course, there are different trends within such a large body.

there is not one church in either date or our day.

although the papacy, the church and the vatican are often used interchangeably, they are not the same thing.

here is the main purpose of this work-to consider and tell the subject as objectively as possible, and on the basis of historical data, leaving aside conspiracy theories and repeated memorization.

this work, of course, includes various criticism and comments. But our aim is neither to portray the papacy as an enemy nor to defend it. It is to examine this institution within its historical and religious context, only in the light of the data we can reach and without exceeding the limits of justice.
