Product description

Thiotacid 600 mg contains thioctic acid (alpha lipoic acid), a biologically occurring substance that acts as a cofactor in the pyruvate-dehydrogenase complex, the alpha-ketoglutarate-dehydrogenase complex, and the amino acid hydrogenase complex.

Reduced levels of thioctic acid have been observed in patients with liver cirrhosis, diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, and polyneuritis.

During metabolism, thioctic acid may be transformed from its oxidized form (with a disulfide bridge) to its reduced dihydro form with two free sulfide groups.

Thiotacid tablets are a food supplement containing thioctic acid used for the maintenance of healthy nerves.
