Only use adsorptive filter media for a few weeks. Since the harmful substances only stick, they can dissolve again after a while and be transported back into the water. At the very least, regular replacement is necessary. Adsorptive filtering is usually only necessary during the running-in phase of the aquarium or after the use of medication. EHEIM AKTIV should only be used for a limited period of time (approx. 4 weeks) and then removed or replaced.
