New turkish literature from tanzimat to the republic (1839-1923) prof.

dr.

i̇nci enginün's book republic period turkish literature, previously published by dergâh publications, is a comprehensive look at turkish literature of the 19th and 20th centuries.

in this literary history, the weight has been given above all to the works, the features of the era and the writers, but they have been touched upon if the works have required it.

the new turkish literature reflects all the confusion of the 19th and 20th centuries. It is possible to learn from the novel of this period about the conflicts or coexistence of old and new, which have a strong tradition seen in all areas of life, and have not yet formed their own traditions. Many of the works produced by writers who will not try pure literature, sometimes instructive, sometimes moralistic, sometimes just driven by literary concerns, are still waiting for their researchers. In this book i̇nci engin has aimed to show the impact of the newspaper on literature, and also has independently addressed genres within itself: chronicle (article, memoir, travel, letter, date) novel and story, poetry, theater, tenkit.

in this book, which resembles a long journey in the literary world where poetry is lived due to the strong tradition of the greatest conflict, such as well-known writers, there are also those who are entering this kind of review for the first time.

we hope that this comprehensive study will be useful to those interested in literature and, in particular, to university youth.
