The thinkers/philosophers who pioneered this period of criticism and appreciation in france are montesquieu (1689-1755), voltaire (1694–1778), rousseau (1712–1778), diderot (1713–1789) and baron d'holbach (1723–1789). These thinkers of the period shaped new intellectual, political, economic, and religious interpretations between the years 1700-1789.
